“Career coaching, executive coaching, life coaching, therapy, clairvoyants - I have made the most of these disciplines on my journey to true self; but nothing opened my mind, heart and soul like Spiritual Direction and the work of J.R. Mahon and Table Top Ministries.
Everything before my engagement with spiritual direction was either about trying to understand and come to terms with the past or making the most of my current characteristics, ambition, performance-orientation, competitive spirit and the general controlling approach to my life - a lot of what I actually did to improve or transform only fed into the isolation and distance I built between me and my family, friends and myself. Setting objectives, making a plan and achieving my goals was not really my issue - my issue was how I leveraged all these social and corporate constructs to protect myself and in doing so I realized I did not know how to love. Love family, friends, partners or self.
The transformative journey I have been on with TableTop the last two plus years have been nothing short of miraculous - it is spiritual and soulful, but it is, above all else, intellectual and rational - it is a journey of integrating the hard and soft, the yin and yang, the heart and mind. J.R. has supported me as I have been able to unpack and deconstruct my relationship with external forces: my parents, my sister, my job, bosses, colleagues, community, friends, finances, material things, success, etc. The fruits of this intentional work was simply to gain a better, more precise understanding of what constructs I subscribed to, where they originate and how to untangle myself. I have more peace than I have ever had in my heart, my mind and life. I have learned it is okay to let people be wrong and to love them anyway. I have learned it is okay if I am wrong and that others will love me. I found a place for myself in the organic flow of my life and while I still have triggers and trauma, I have tools, and I have been able to calm the visceral and process the problems.
When I came to J.R. I told him I wanted to learn how to love and in my mind I wanted to be able to love a partner - to be in a healthy romantic relationship; but what I continue to learn is the love I seek is much closer to home, much harder to bestow and sometimes harder to accept - it is the love for myself.
I am still a work in progress, but very grateful and blessed to have J.R. as my guide.”

WHY TABLETOP?
The relationship built between spiritual directors and their directees is life changing, if not life saving. Throughout Scripture we are challenged to take care of each other. The book of Galatians asks us to restore those who are struggling, bearing each other's burdens so they may take pride in themselves as they take in God's incredible love.
What is Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction is the practice of being with people as they deepen their relationship with God. It is the world's oldest methodology for healing one's soul and giving way to *true self." Spiritual Direction takes the guesswork out of a relationship with the Divine. One person listening intently as another narrates the current season of life. Both knowing God sits at the heart and center of the words and emotions. Spiritual direction seeks the intimacy of community, giving power to carry each other's burdens.
